A Voice That Lit Up the Streets
Shirley Raines, founder and CEO of Beauty2theStreets, a nonprofit devoted to helping the homeless of Los Angeles, had a voice that could light up the darkest block: “Hey queen! Hey king!” A cheerful reminder that even in the hardest times, love finds a way—and it came in the human form of Shirley Raines.

Feeding Hundreds with Love
Every week, Shirley prepared and handed out meals for 400–600 people, often cooking from her own home before heading out to meet those waiting for her support. She showed up consistently with food, essentials, and a cheerful voice — always treating individuals as people first, not as statistics.

Restoring Dignity Through Beauty
What began as giving out beauty products evolved into a broader mission. In addition to meals, Shirley provided hair styling, makeup, hygiene supplies, and moments of self‑worth that helped people feel seen and valued. She told reporters that makeup wasn’t going to take someone off the street, but it gave them a chance to see themselves beyond their current reality.

Why Shirley Started Her Mission
Shirley’s work was deeply personal. After a friend invited her to feed people experiencing homelessness, she felt an immediate connection, saying she recognized reflection of her own struggles in the faces she served. That sense of shared humanity drove her to continue returning every week, building trust and community.

Ms. Shirley’s Legacy Lives On
Her resilience and devotion to those less fortunate were God-given gifts, inspiring millions. Blessed with donations to sustain her mission, Shirley carried hope to every corner she touched. Her passing shocked everyone who had crossed her shining path.
Though Shirley Raines has passed away, the kindness, dignity, and hope she brought to so many lives remain. We will never forget her mark on this world. She was hope and love, and her memory continues in the countless hearts she touched.
This is dedicated in remembrance of her.
Rest in Peace, Shirley Raines
