Tana Mongeau recently shared unsettling moments from her time on Escape the Night with Joey Graceffa, including creepy encounters and an injury on set. Things escalated when Joey dismissed her safety concerns on a podcast, calling them a way to “bring publicity to the show.” Tana called him out, stressing that her discomfort was about her safety, not clout.
Want to know more about Tana Mongeau’s unsettling experiences on Escape the Night? Check out my full article:
Despite the intense backlash, Joey has yet to comment using his public platforms on the situation or address the criticism surrounding his response.
You know who has though? Ms. Nerdy Nummies herself, Rosanna Pansino.
Rosanna Pansino’s Response: Mockery or Misguided Defense?
She recently shared her own perspective on the situation, and let’s just say, she doesn’t take Tana’s side. Rosanna’s response was full of drama and a different take on the whole ordeal, adding her voice to the mix. Read on to find out what she had to say.
Rosanna Pansino’s Response to Tana Mongeau
Rosanna Pansino and her man of ten years, Michael, took to her Rodiculous Podcast channel to completely discredit and disrespect Tana.
Surprisingly, instead of acknowledging that maybe Tana really did experience something uncomfortable on the set of Escape the Night, Rosanna starts out her video by mocking Mongeau, saying:
“Business is slow so just run me over, okay,”
and goes on to say she even defended Tana privately to her friends when they spoke negatively about her.
Discrediting Tana’s Story
The first clip Mike and Rosanna watch is from episode 107 of the Cancelled Podcast with Brooke and Paige, who Rosanna makes important to note: “was very kind to my face.”
Already throwing jabs…
This isn’t about your feelings, Rosanna. This is about Tana being mistreated in a professional environment and being completely discredited by the production manager himself. This could have—and SHOULD have—been two completely different videos.
Tana starts out by saying,
“The person who I did this project with and for I like love so much so I feel—like—even guilty associating this like with his name—and I’ve debated telling this story on the podcast all week but like I just f#cking hate men and I cannot believe this happened to me so whatever I’m gonna tell it.”
Dismissive Reactions and Valid Points
What do Rosanna and her man respond to this? Well, Mike chimes in with:
“I don’t know that seems a weird way to start a story for me.”
Rosanna follows with a convoluted statement:
“I think she’s been hurt a lot by men, I have as well—BUT—I don’t hate all of the gender—I—I don’t know. I don’t hate any sex.”
The premise of what Rosanna and Michael are saying is that being biased when telling a story discredits it. However, when the entire point of the story is to bring awareness to the potential dangers and red flags of dangerous men, then a little bit of man slander is to be expected, and come on—it’s Tana Mongeau.
They continue watching and dragging Tana for dramatically announcing the 10am call time in DTLA in full glam. They mock her, saying:
“I cannot.”
Tana’s Alleged Bad Attitude on Set of Escape the Night
These were reported by Rosanna and Mike.
Alleged Refusal to Participate
During the intro sequence, the cast was instructed to do a small hop, but Tana allegedly refused to join in.
Alleged Early Departure
Tana allegedly left the set early, doing the least amount of work compared to the other cast members. Although she claimed to feel nostalgic and happy to be part of the final product, she had already left before completing her expected responsibilities. She also said she had to go to the urgent care but did not end up going according to Rosanna and Mike.
Alleged Disrespectful Behavior Toward the Crew
Tana allegedly made several disrespectful comments toward the crew, including accusing a crew member of breathing heavily and giving her odd compliments. She also allegedly insulted another crew member by referring to him as a “gremlin” on her podcast after he complimented her.
Alleged Refusal of Help
When Tana allegedly mentioned experiencing pain in her pinky, production offered her pain medication, but she allegedly declined. She expressed that she didn’t want to seem difficult, which further indicated her alleged discomfort with engaging fully in the production process and her reluctance to accept help or accommodations.
Rosanna Confides in Tana About Her Father’s Unique Final Wish
On Escape the Night, Rosanna shared with Tana that her late father had requested his ashes be used to grow a marijuana plant to be smoked after death, a deeply personal wish she had kept within her inner circle before publicly sharing.
The Heartfelt Reason Behind Rosanna’s Confession
Rosanna’s decision to share this intimate story with Tana stemmed from her desire to express the unconventional nature of her father’s request. She felt it was important to first share it with her closest friends and family before making it public, and that’s why she chose to open up to Tana behind the scenes.
Tana’s Misrepresentation of Rosanna’s Story
Tana misrepresented Rosanna’s story by saying her father had just passed away, when it had been five years. To make matters worse, Tana laughed and her cohosts made inappropriate comments, which upset Rosanna, as the personal story was shared in confidence. This highlights the need for respect when discussing sensitive topics.
Rosanna’s Disappointment in Tana’s Empty Promises
In addition to the misrepresentation, Rosanna was also let down by Tana’s failure to follow through on an offer to have her on the podcast. Tana had expressed enthusiasm, calling Rosanna “bad ass” and suggesting they smoke together, but despite repeated invitations, Rosanna was never actually invited on the show.
Reflecting on this, Mike said,
“She’s been inviting you for years but never actually had you on. I think she just says that to be nice,”
Rosanna Responds to Tana and Trisha’s Remarks
When Trisha and Tana were discussing Rosanna smoking marijuana in honor of her late father, Trisha mentioned that she had a text from Rosanna saying as much. Rosanna confirmed, explaining that she had shared the information with close friends. She went on to say,
“These ladies have done a lot of things I wouldn’t do, and I’ve never judged them. Could you imagine belittling a daughter after she loses her father to leukemia and she’s tryna honor him in the way he wanted to be honored?”
Disrespectful Comments About Rosanna’s Grieving Process
According to Rosanna, she knew how unconventional her father’s request to be smoked as a marijuana plant was, so she made the decision to tell her family and close friends first before sharing it publicly. That’s why she approached Tana behind the scenes of Escape the Night. However, Tana, with this information in hand, went ahead and shared it with others. Their responses were notable.
Rosanna Slams Brooke’s Ignorance
During a conversation about Rosanna honoring her father’s wishes by smoking his ashes,
Brooke asked,
“Isn’t that illegal?”
Rosanna responded calmly, correcting the misconception by saying,
“It’s simple biology,”
and clarified that it was not illegal. The exchange reflected Rosanna’s desire to honor her father’s memory in the way he had wished, while also showing frustration with Brooke’s lack of understanding, especially considering Brooke’s history of controversies.
Rosanna’s response conveyed both her respect for her father and her irritation with the ignorance surrounding such a personal matter.
Rosanna Reacts to Paige Camerlin’s “Cannibalism” Comment
Paige Camerlin made a shocking comment on social media, comparing Rosanna’s grieving process to something as extreme as cannibalism. This insensitive remark left many questioning Paige’s intent and its impact on Rosanna’s family.
As Rosanna continues to navigate the complexities of her father’s grieving process, her message to Paige is clear:
“We all need to think before we speak, especially when it comes to someone else’s pain.”
Tana’s Frustration with the Male Gaze and Her Outfit
Tana expresses frustration with the situation, saying,
“I hate the male species. I really left with this extreme frustration and anger and disdain… It’s so awful.”
She acknowledges it’s not about the person who put the outfit on her, even though she dressed herself, adding,
“I feel like this always happens to me where someone has me dressed like a slut and it’s winter time.”
Despite choosing her own outfit, she feels objectified, which points to the deeper issue of being treated inappropriately, not the choice itself.
Rosanna pretends to be confused, as Joey Graceffa allowed everyone to bring their own outfits.
Michael responds, reminding everyone that Tana chose the outfit and knew the environment.
Their demeanor and mocking tone make it clear that they’re acting as if she chose the objectification—wrongly assuming she brought it on herself.
Tana may have phrased it weirdly, but the reality is she didn’t choose it, and they’re just using that as an excuse to bully her.
Rosanna’s Approach to Character Selection & Wardrobe Choices
When asked what character she wanted to play, Rosanna says she told the production to let the others choose first:
“Because I’m so chill, I don’t care.”
To make matters worse, it seems that Tana didn’t bring her own outfit. According to Rosanna, wardrobe had five options for her, but she chose her own outfit. Rosanna adds:
“I don’t think she looked sl@tty, I’m gonna be very honest—it had a little bit of sexiness to it, but it wasn’t sl@tty.”
Rosanna’s Mocking Response to Tana’s Younger Men Comment on ‘Escape the Night‘ Set
Rosanna latched onto the “YOUNGER” statement when Tana said maybe usually there are more younger guys on set, but Rosanna took that and ran – twisting Mongeau’s words into “young enough” or “hot enough.”
This assumption is degrading and unnecessary. It implies that if a woman has been hurt or is openly sexual, she will be sexualized and discriminated against.
Given that Tana has been groomed by multiple older men, their statement is not only deeply ignorant but also inappropriate, and they should recognize and respect her advocacy.
Rosanna responds by saying:
“It’s just so shallow. Everything is about looks for them.”
However, I believe Tana was referring more to the level of safety she feels with men her age, not the attractiveness or desire she seeks.
Tana’s Conversation with Rosanna after the Unsettling Comment
Tana briefly mentioned to Rosanna a weird comment made by a guy on set. Rosanna passed this along to Joey, who immediately emphasized that he would never want Tana to feel uneasy. To fix the situation, Joey made sure to separate them and handled it in post-production.
Tana’s Credibility and Exaggerations
Rosanna Questions Tana’s Storytelling
Rosanna expresses her difficulty in believing Tana’s stories, saying:
“I chose to believe her then, and it makes it hard to believe someone not because of who they are, but because when you tell a story where you’re over-exaggerating so many things and lying about so many things, it makes it harder to believe you when it comes to serious things because it destroys your credibility.”
Tana’s Claims of Being Restricted and Freed
Tana claimed that she was eventually “freed” from a situation where she felt physically restricted, referring to an incident on set. However, Rosanna clarifies that Tana only needed to release the prop chains she was holding, and there wasn’t any actual restraint.
Debunking Tana’s Claims: The Pinky Incident and Misleading Statements
Tana’s claim about a horror actor injuring her pinky when he allegedly tried to grab her during filming was quickly debunked by Rosanna. Rosanna explained that the actor was simply attempting to tag another person, not hurt anyone.
“Clock clock clock clock clock – it is a full-time clocking her,”
which, while perhaps awkward in phrasing, highlights the mounting tension surrounding Tana’s storytelling.
Tana’s Serious Allegations and Actor Apologizes
Tana claimed,
“The same man who literally assaulted me in a freezer just broke my pinky.”
Rosanna firmly responded, stating,
“I do not think she broke her pinky, and if I’m wrong, Tana, upload that X-ray.”
Later, Rosanna sided with the scare actor who had apologized to Tana. However, Tana, overwhelmed by the situation, did not accept the apology and referred to the incident as her “biggest nightmare.”
Despite this, Rosanna saw no reason to side with the actor, especially considering that Tana had already expressed feeling unsafe.
The Phone Issue: SOS Claim Debunked
One of Tana’s claims was that her phone went into SOS mode when she went down to the basement on set. Michael and Rosanna quickly addressed this, pointing out that it wasn’t a situation where she was far from contact. As Michael states,
“It was down a single flight of stairs, and I just wanna remind everyone on all the sets I’ve been on, you’re not supposed to have your phone on set—even in downtime during breaks, no one’s on their phone.”
The Escape the Night Production Team Wasn’t All Male
Tana has also suggested that the production team for Escape the Night was exclusively male, a claim that Rosanna immediately refuted. She expressed her confusion with Tana’s comment, saying,
“The production company was not all male; there were tons of females. I don’t understand if Tana has female blindness.”
Did Tana Get Assaulted in the Meat Freezer?
Perhaps one of the most notable claims from Tana was that she was chained up in a meat freezer on set. Both Michael and Rosanna debunked this, explaining that there were no real chains or meat involved. Rosanna clarified,
“There was no actual meat. They were plastic props. The freezer was non-operational, and it was an open floor concept. The chains were fake, and all she had to do was let go and put her arms down.”
Rosanna and Michael dismissed this, suggesting that Tana was overreacting. They said she only needed to release the prop chains she was holding, as they felt the situation wasn’t as serious as Tana made it sound. Michael commented:
“That was not an assault. All she had to do was release the chains.”
Tana’s “Creepy” Interactions
Tana comments:
“It was just very creepy, the vibes—every interaction I had with every single person.”
Michael, however, argues that he was next to Tana during her conversations with several crew members and saw completely normal interactions, suggesting that she might be lying or exaggerating.
Tana’s Leak of Escape the Night Information and Joey’s Efforts
After sharing her experience on the Canceled podcast, Tana received criticism in the comments for revealing details about Escape the Night. For Joey, this was a sensitive matter, as the show had grown from a niche project to a mainstream success, with significant time and effort invested. Rosanna highlights this shift, stating, “Escape the Night is no longer a niche project. It is mainstream and has billboards everywhere,” emphasizing how much the show had evolved.
Tana’s Relationship with Joey and the Show’s Impact
Rosanna also mentions how Joey played an important role in helping Tana rise in the industry, noting,
“Joey helped you have a come up.”
Michael follows up by asking if Tana feels she returns the favor to Joey to which Rosanna says,
“Absolutely not,”
it reveals the complexity of their relationship. Rosanna feels Tana may not fully acknowledge the support Joey gave her, which she finds a bit surprising.
Additionally, Tana refers to other cast members as “random personalities,” which Rosanna points out as ironic given Tana’s own status in the industry. She remarks,
“Tana calls me and the other cast members random personalities while I’m just Trish, as if she is not herself a random personality.”
Acknowledging Joey’s Contribution
Both Rosanna and Michael express their belief that Joey’s contributions to the success of Escape the Night should not be overlooked. They feel that Tana might not always recognize the extent of Joey’s help in her career, but they understand that relationships in the industry are complex and multi-layered.
Tana Insinuated Rosanna ‘Fawns to Men’, Prompting Defensive Rant
Tana continues by posing a hypothetical situation, asking what would happen if she were like Rosanna, someone who wouldn’t speak up. She wonders if it could lead to something worse, which once again frustrates both Michael and Rosanna. Michael defends Rosanna, saying,
“So there she is dogging on you essentially saying you’re meek and weak. I don’t know if Tana knows the last person that came for you had to fire their CEO.”
Rosanna laughs, but the comment triggers a passionate over-a-minute rant where she defends her strength, recalling her experience exposing MrBeast.
Tana then reads a quote from Joey on Just Trish, where he allegedly said,
“Tana can complain. It brings publicity to the show.”
Brooke remarks that it was a bold choice to say that, adding more tension to the situation.
Final Thoughts on Tana’s Narrative Change
- Michael says Joey addressed the issue on set, and Tana didn’t complain afterward. However, her podcast raised questions about her intentions.
- Rosanna and Michael express disappointment in Tana for saying she doesn’t want Joey blamed, despite the media’s comment section pointing to him as accountable.
- I believe Joey, as the provider of the workplace, should be responsible for improving safety protocols and addressing the situation he put his friend in, regardless of her response.
Rosanna’s Stand on Speaking Up for Herself
Tana’s comment about what might happen if Rosanna were in a similar situation where she wouldn’t speak up struck a nerve. Rosanna shared how she spent 20 years internalizing men’s bad behavior and how she had finally had enough. She stated,
“That person doesn’t exist anymore. This is now who I am, where I’m gonna clock people for lying, exaggerating, and when they do things that are cruel and mean for no reason, you’re gonna hear about it.”
She then referenced her decision to speak out against MrBeast, emphasizing that she was no longer someone who would remain silent in the face of injustice.
Where is Joey Graceffa?
Michael and Rosanna spend a significant amount of time speaking on Joey’s behalf, which leads me to wonder if he’s receiving legal or media advice influencing his silence.
Rosanna mentions that while Tana is offended by Joey questioning her injury, she believes everyone should ask for x-rays and proof. She subtly suggests Tana might be exaggerating or lying about the situation.
Tana Backpedals: ‘I was just making a funny’
At the end of the discussion, Tana says,
“Rosanna is a slay,”
a comment that Rosanna finds ironic and problematic.
She does deserve an actual apology for the way Tana publicly belittled her grieving process, something that Tana seemed to brush off.
Tana tries to justify her earlier comments by claiming,
“I wasn’t coming for her, that was just funny,”
but then says people accused her of making it up. Rosanna responds firmly, telling Tana to own up to it:
“You did come for me, and you got backlash.”
Brooke adds,
“I wish you made it up,”
underscoring the confusion and frustration that surrounds The Canceled Podcast behavior.
Rosanna Brings Receipts: Video Evidence
Rosanna shares a video that shows the actual distance between the meat freezer where Tana had her uncomfortable interaction with the actor and the production crew.
The video also reveals the plastic meat hanging from the ceilings and the fake chains, providing context to the scene. This visual evidence contradicts Tana’s earlier account, adding more complexity to the situation.
The Root of the Disagreement: Media Boundaries
Tana escalated the situation by being insensitive, turning private hurt feelings into a public feud.
Rosanna chose to share her father’s dying wishes privately, but Tana’s public belittlement of her grief is what truly hurt, deepening the divide and making reconciliation unlikely.
Rosanna Is No Better Than Tana
Rosanna Pansino (39) and her boyfriend, Mike Lamond (37), are publicly mocking a 26-year-old who faced harassment on set—no better than the person they criticize. It’s surprising how quickly Rosanna latched onto Tana’s joke.
Meanwhile, Tana Mongeau (26) is publicly belittling a grieving daughter. While her frustrations with Escape the Night are valid, dismissing Rosanna’s grief was unnecessary.
None of them are innocent. If they want to be taken seriously, they should reconsider how they treat others—because right now, they’re all guilty of the same behavior they condemn.
Watch Rosanna’s full Podcast Episode here:
Trisha Paytas already came to Tana’s defense, but now it’s time for the rest of us to step up. She’s also heartbroken over the loss of her friendship with Rosanna, making this entire situation even more painful. It’s crucial to stand up for each other and call out the BS when we see it. We need to amplify Tana’s voice and make sure people understand that safety is never up for debate. Speak up, call out the injustice, and let’s make noise until the truth is heard!
Rosanna Responds: Believes Tana, Open to Trisha Reunion
Rosanna has responded yet again, this time with a much calmer-toned video. She explains that she is compartmentalizing the pain Tana has caused her and the incident that happened on the set of Escape the Night.
Despite everything, she says she believes Tana, even though the hurt is still there. She also shares that she is willing to reconcile her friendship with Trisha.
